Ask Me! – New York movies casting in NYC or LA?

It’s not as simple as that, I’m afraid.

A lot of times a project will cast where it will shoot. Although, every single project that is produced has it’s own rules. There is no rhyme or reason to where, when, why or how they will cast it. I’ve done a commercial for the UK that was cast in NYC. I’ve done a film in Memphis that was cast over the internet. I’ve auditioned for a film to be shot in LA that was cast in NYC. I’ve seen projects set to be shot in NYC that were cast in LA.

One thing is for sure, LA casts the most on-camera projects. New York’s film and TV industry is fast growing, though, so it’s not like we’re totally missing out on work by being here.
